United Health Care and Virtual Doctors
July 20, 2009Paralleling the President’s overhaul to our nation’s health care, United Health Care (the second largest insurer in America) is looking to create an easier means for individuals to reap the benefits and services of doctors. They are hoping to make it so easy to see a doctor that you can actually do it from your very own living-room.
United Health Care is partnering up with Cisco Systems in their effort to create this new virtual network. Essentially United Health Care will utilize Cisco’s video conferencing capabilities with their network of doctors to offer better medical service to people in underserved areas. Individuals can purchase fiber-optic cameras for use in their own house or they could visit the mall where virtual doctor’s offices have been created.
United Health Care’s proposal for this new network in health care will also be greatly aided by President Obama’s push for overhauling our current system. Specifically, the President is greatly pushing for a greater utilization of preventive services, as well as making medical records paperless. In doing so, physicians will be better able to service their patients in a timely manner because they will have an individual’s entire medical history digitized in front of them. Hence, no matter where you are doctors will have the ability to examine your medical background and more accurately diagnose your personal situation.
This program has been said to begin in New Mexico and then spread across the nation. If you would like quotes on health insurance, including United Health Care, visit us at MyInsuranceExpert.com.
