President Obama Addresses Health Insurance Issue

July 27, 2009

President Obama for the most part has been following through on his promise to make the Whitehouse and Government more transparent.  During his briefing held this last Wednesday, he again emphasized the importance of a health insurance reform, and the importance it will play in rebuilding our country’s economy.

America currently spends the most on health care services, yet it still has the greatest number of uninsured individuals.  By creating a more cost efficient health care system (for example, electronic medical records to save on redundant tests) we could cut down on excess spending.

President Obama again stressed the importance of getting the health care reform bill passed before the summer recess.  He feels very strongly that if a sense of urgency isn’t created then change will never happen.  Keeping the inertia of this plan is incredibly important since the process of this reform will take years to implement.

As with many other American’s, I am very interested to see what changes will occur once the bill is submitted, and the House and Senate return from their break.  Hopefully by then, there will be greater discussion on the actual specifics of what we can truly expect.

In the meantime, don’t wait to see what changes will occur.  Be proactive, and get health insurance today.
