February is the Month Dedicated to the Heart!

    Here are some heart healthy tips for you and your loved one……

  • Don’t fill your heart with chemicals. Smoking ingests 4,800 different chemicals, which damage your heart and blood vessels. Stay away from smoke or use of tobacco products.
  • Get hot and sweaty with your significant other. Participate in regular moderately vigorous physical activity 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes.
    This physical activity should include cardiovascular activity, which benefits the heart. (i.e. walking, jogging, jump rope, bicycling (indoor or out), cross country skiing, skating, low impact aerobics, and/or water aerobics.) Be sure to also include strength training and stretching before and after your workout.
  • Don’t eat away at your heart. Be sure to eat a heart healthy diet. Heart healthy eating isn’t about cutting back. Most people just need to add more fruits and veggies to their diet.
  • Keep yourself nice and trim for your lover. Keep your BMI (Body Mass Index) below 25. The BMI is a good but imperfect guide. Muscle weighs more then fat for instance. This could cause an inaccurate reading. Be sure to measure your abdominal fat too. 40in or higher in Men is overweight and 35in or higher in women is overweight.
  • Take a trip to the doctor together. Get regular health screenings for blood pressure and cholesterol levels. You may not know you have these conditions. Regular screenings will tell you your numbers and if you need to take action.
  • Learn how to be proactive with your health to simply be around longer and spend more time with the ones you love. Be proactive with your health and take all natural supplements and get all natural nutrition that will ensure you get your recommended daily amount of vitamins and minerals.
