When applying for travel health insurance, it is important to remember that the travel health insurance plan will only be effective while traveling. You will be required to identify the days of departure, return and the countries traveling through as part of your travel health insurance application. Only between the departure and return dates will the travel health insurance be valid.
It is also important to remember that the travel health insurance plan will only provide medical benefits in times of urgent medical need. In other words, unexpected illness and accidental injury will be covered. Preventive care including immunizations, treatment of pre-existing conditions, drug treatments, maternity treatment or other health expenses determined to be medically unnecessary will not be covered by the travel health insurance plan.
